Focus and Scope
Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation are very future trends in engineering and science.
Due to:
* the growing complexity of engineering tasks,
* more and more specialized and expensive equipment as well as software tools and simulators,
* the necessary use of expensive equipment and software tools/simulators in short time projects,
* the application of high tech equipment also in SME's,
* the need of high qualified staff to control recent equipment,
* the demands of globalization and division of labour,
it is increasingly necessary to allow and organize a shared use of engineering resources.
But the shared use of virtual and remote controlled devices as well as distributed remote and virtual laboratories is also one of the future directions for advanced teleworking/e-working environments.
The general objective of the journal is to publish fundamentals, applications and experiences in the field of online engineering with it's main components: remote engineering, simulation and virtual instrumentation.
Of interest are also:
* collaborative networks
* virtual organizations
* virtual enterprises

This journal aims to bridge the gap between pure academic research journals and more practical publications. So it covers the full range from research, application development to experience reports and product descriptions.

Open Access Policy
Open Access Research

This journal provides open access to all of it content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Such access is associated with increased readership and increased citation of an author's work. For more information on this approach, see the Public Knowledge Project, which has designed this system to improve the scholarly and public quality of research, and which freely distributes the journal system as well as other software to support the open access publishing of scholarly resources.

Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
